48 Hour Film | MA Photographer

You may have seen my twitter updates this weekend about The 48 Film Project, which is an international contest for filmmakers. Last weekend, the traveling project came to Boston and over 80 teams participated. Teams received a genre, a character name, and a prop they had to include in their film, and had just 48 hours to script, shoot, edit and score a 6 minute film. Needless to say, not a lot of sleep was had by the dedicated teams. One of my good friends from school, who now lives in LA, came to Boston this weekend just to participate in the madness and he asked me to capture some behind the scenes images of their film, “Eviction”.

Nick, Steve, and Thad filming on location in Pawtucket, RI.

A talented Megan applies makeup to Frank to create a black eye. It looked SO real when she was finished! People were looking at him funny when he walked down the street.

The film was about a girl and her two deadbeat roomates who spent their rent money on Jonas Brothers concert tickets and were going to be evicted unless they could pay their overdue rent. They had some…er…unconventional ways of raising the money – a violent comedy if you will.

The big payoff came Tuesday night, when I went to Kendall Cinema in Cambridge for a screening, and saw a sampling of the films that were made over the weekend. My character photos were used in the credits of “Eviction” and it was pretty cool to see my name up on the big screen. Thanks to Thad and the whole cast and crew who made Saturday superfun!
